Day 22 - Acebo to Valtuille de Arriba (36 kms)

Acebo - Riego de Ambros - Molinaseca - Ponferrada - Columbrianos - Fuentas Nuevas - Camponaraya - Cacabelos - Pieros - Valtuille de Arriba

Hola family and friends.

Tonight we are sending just a brief update. It's been a long day and 'your correspondent' is exhausted!

The sun shone on us again today - and we think the high this afternoon of around 21 degrees is our warmest day yet. Though we can vouch it feels a good deal hotter after 30+ kms in the strong afternoon sun that Spain is well known for. We're not complaining. Every sunny day is a bonus at this time of year and we have had more than we ever expected. Tomorrow we have the challenge of breaking the back of the steep climb to O'Cebreiro!

Til then, some photos from today including Ponferrada, the home of the Knights Templar and the Castillo de Los Templorias. Not so many to choose from today as 'someone' forgot to recharge their camera!

Big thank you to Helen, Sue, Marian, Libby, Phil, Ann and Martin for your comments and emails. Love hearing from you.

Lots of love

  1. Hi there

There were lots of photos so not complaining about uncharged camera. All the best with the climb tomorrow. Don't think about it. Just have lots of conversation topics to cover and ones that make you smile and the time and walk will pass effortlessly. Take care of yourselves. xx

  3. And I thought you'd do less kms in this terrain. Bravo (in Spanish not so sure)! I can't tell you how much I'm living vicariously through your trip. Hope you're both having the time of your lives. Take care and all the best for the mountains. Aelwyn xoxo

The kids can't believe you are still walking..... And all say to say 'go jill and Jenny.'
